Our story
Sunset Smiles begins a long way from Jupiter — in Cuba, where Dr. Magela Martinez grew up watching some of the most rigorously trained clinicians in the hemisphere practice with almost nothing on the shelf. Anesthetics were rationed when they were available at all, and patients of her parents’ generation learned to sit through fillings and extractions with little more than careful technique, extra time, and a steady hand on the shoulder. That was the dentistry she grew up watching — and it taught her that how a patient feels in the chair is not a nicety. It is the whole job.
After coming to the United States, she earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from Nova Southeastern University and built the practice she had always pictured: one where the materials are always on the shelf, the numbing is never rushed, and no one ever has to brace themselves in the chair. Older Cuban patients sometimes need to hear it twice before they believe the procedure will be painless. When it’s over, there’s often a quiet smile: “No es como antes.” It’s not like before. That moment is why this practice exists.
Sunset Smiles is a small, family-owned practice — not a corporate chain. There is no private-equity office deciding how many minutes your appointment gets. Dr. Martinez owns the practice, treats every patient personally, and answers to the people of Jupiter, not to shareholders. Every consultation starts with a real conversation about what you want, what worries you, and what has or hasn’t worked before — and the treatment plan comes after, not before.
Today this small bilingual team serves patients across Jupiter, Tequesta, Palm Beach Gardens, Juno Beach, Jupiter Inlet Colony, and Hobe Sound — with a 5.0-star Google rating and a growing list of neighbors who tell us it’s the most comfortable dental care they’ve ever had, in English or in Spanish.

Dr. Magela Martinez has spent her career proving that great dentistry isn't just about technique — it's about the human on the other side of the chair. After earning her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from Nova Southeastern University, she continued advanced training in porcelain veneers, dental implants, ceramic crown design, and full smile reconstruction.
She founded Sunset Smiles to be a small, boutique-feel practice where every patient gets unhurried attention and care that's tailored to their goals, lifestyle, and facial aesthetics — with results that look, feel, and function exactly like natural teeth.
